One of CAMTA's Goals: Share Knowledge and Practices

Local Physiotherapists observed our staff on Clinic day.  Then CAMTA Physiotherapists visited their site which is associated with Tierra Nueve Foundation.  The CAMTA team enjoyed sharing knowledge, brainstorming ideas for improvement in multiple metrics, and observing local Physiotherapists provide outstanding care to the patients here in Quito.

CAMTA's head Adult Ward Nurse, Deb Chalupa, met with a group of hospital nurses.  She used a case study of what had happened last week when a pediatric patient with no prior history, had a seizure.  They compared practices in Canada and Quito on how to react.  The protocol to call for help is similar but there they don't have access to a rapid response team.  Assistance comes from doctors who are on the same floor. It was identified that the staff ratio was higher (10 patients to 1 nursing staff) in this hospital as compared to Alberta, Canada (4-1).  The local nurses appreciated the opportunity to share challenges and successes.
