CAMTA's longest serving volunteer

For the past 15 years, Pauline Worsford has been a volunteer Recovery Room Nurse with CAMTA. Other than the founders, she is CAMTA's longest serving volunteer.  She has many stories of the early challenges and the truly wonderful CAMTA patients.

Pauline remembers the days when patients arrived at the hospital with their own units of blood and the day when one of CAMTA's patients had to call his Mom from the Recovery Room to go to the Red Cross to pick up extra units of blood!  That man now comes to every CAMTA Clinic to help with translating and helping the physios do their pre-op teaching!

Today, CAMTA patients go to the local Red Cross where they (or someone on their behalf) donate two units of blood.  The blood is sent directly to the hospital where it will be available for that patient if needed.

Pauline says that working with CAMTA has changed her life.  She is much more grateful and has so much more joy in her life now.
