Second Sunday Clinic
Briefing at the second CAMTA Clinic. The docs get their marching orders.
The clinic was very upbeat after the events of the night before. We arrived around 8:50AM on the first bus and busied ourselves with moving furniture and plugging in the computers. The patients were pre-entered for this clinic by Dan Ducholke last week. Everything flowed so smoothly this time. Part of that was due to a little “redesign” of the pediatric clinic space to clear a backlog of patients ready for the pedipods. The other part of the equation was the better use of the flow-controllers people to avoid the little “traffic jams” that can occur in any multi-step process.
Physio Brenda Corie advices a patient on the use of a walker. This is preparation for after surgery.
Drs. Paul Moreau and Ron Henderson examine xrays.
At 1 pm we shut down the clnic for lunch.
We have excellent meals served at no charge each day. The meals are organized by Zulay Ruiz Palacios and her friends. Caterexpress is the company of one of the couples and they have been VERY GENEROUS to us. Our health is better thanks to great safe food each day!
Back in the clinic after lunch, Dr. Marc Moreau describes the surgery to a young patient and her family. Translator Carolina interprets.
We were pleased to have the adults finished in the clinic by 4:30PM, the pediatric patients by 5PM, and the team on the bus home at 5:30PM. Despite our late start, we were finished at the EARLIEST time ever for a clinic.
Eighty patients were seen with 20 adults and 15 children booked for surgery.
We had five children and adults from the Amazon referred to us by the Timmy Foundation, but none of them required surgery.
