Packing accomplished in record time!
Eileen and Jessica prepare pediatric surgical items
On Saturday, CAMTA volunteers gathered at two sites to complete the final preparation and packing for the 2011 mission.
Over at the warehouse about 20 volunteers methodically inventoried and packed surgical instruments and supplies, prosthetics, crutches, walkers and medications, filling 47 hockey bags for Week One and 15 more for Week Two. When fully packed the bags weighed a total of about 1.5 tons! These bags will be loaded into a van provided by Marc Tardif and his crew at Echo Promotions next Thursday evening to be transported to Edmonton International Airport for our early morning departure on Friday, February 18th.
The chart crew
Meanwhile, at the Moreau residence, an enthusiastic team of ten prepared over 160 patient charts in anticipation of two very full weeks of adult and paediatric surgeries.
Team members can now concentrate on getting their own luggage in order – two peoples' backpacks have to weigh less than 50 lbs. total, and fit together into one hockey bag.
