One step closer to Quito
The initial spreadsheets for this years mission has arrived from the social worker letting us know of potential patients.
There are about 65 children, many of them having dysplastic hips. There are also clubfeet and tendon problems. We have never had this many kids on the initial list! From this list, the surgeons should be able to fill the OR slates.
There are 70 adults with hip problems and 9 more young adults with various conditions of the feet, back or arms. Only about 40 adults can have hip surgery so we will have to prioritize.
The spreadsheets will go out to the surgeons and in the case of the adult patients, the x- rays that came earlier can be templated to determine the size of prostheses we should bring down. Anesthesiologists will also be given the list so they can see the age range of the patients and the associated medical conditions.
