A Special Delivery Indeed!

What is a SIGN nail? A special instrument that can be used to fix a fractured bone without the need for intra-operative x-ray.
Developed by an American physician and Vietnam war veteran who recognized a need for more efficient trauma care in less fortunate areas of the world, thousands of these nails have been supplied all over the globe by different charitable organizations.
These nails allow surgeons to do an effective procedure without expensive and often inaccessible equipment, allowing folks to live a productive life without long-term disabilities.
CAMTA has been involved in the SIGN nail program for 15 years and has brought hundreds of them to Ecuador. In this time, CAMTA surgeons have met with surgeons in Quenca, Loha and Babahoyo to deliver the equipment and learn a few tricks along the way!

Dr. Marc Moreau, one of CAMTA’s founding members, headed down to Quenca yesterday with a very special delivery. He loves the face-to-face contact with Ecuadorian surgeons and watching the process unfold!
As of this afternoon, we even have a new site in Azogues-Stay tuned!
Extra funds raised by CAMTA team members are put towards this initiative! Thank-you so much to all of our wonderful donors, we really couldn’t do this without you!
