Trust, Rapport and Relationships
Josh Gallup (Student Nurse) makes custom name signs for all patients on the ward
As the week goes on, our CAMTA team continues to reflect on our work and what a privilege it is to be here and work with this patient population. One point of reflection that is often discussed within the team is a sense of awe at how readily the patients trust this team. Here we are, blue-scrub-clad strangers from another country, speaking another language, being trusted to perform major operations on people's mothers, fathers, siblings, children. There is great weight to that trust, one that constantly inspires the team to take seriously our responsibility to provide high quality care with long-term good outcomes.
This same level of trust often helps to facilitate rapport and relationship building between patients and team members that is really beautiful to witness. From blowing bubbles for our pediatric patients to sharing jokes and taking selfies with the adults, our team members are constantly going above and beyond to bond with the patients and ensure that their whole experience with CAMTA is a positive and memorable one.
