Team One arrives in Quito!

It was a long journey, but the Week One team is on the ground in Quito and the mission is underway!

On Friday morning at 4:45am, the majority of the team met at Edmonton Airport to collect 54 hockey bags loaded with all kinds of necessary medical equipment and get on their way. After being joined in Houston by members travelling from other cities, the flight to Quito was smooth and had us arriving just after midnight in Quito's blissfully mild weather (12 degrees feels tropical after Edmonton's -30!).

The guys on the team quickly acclimatized to the higher altitude by hauling all of our hockey bags full of equipment into the hospital, before we were all met at the hotel with a beautiful welcome of medical-themed décor, fresh beverages and a midnight snack buffet.

This incredibly warm reception at the hotel was just one of many indicators we've seen so far of the depth and continuity of relationships CAMTA forms with all of their partners in Ecuador.
