We said farewell to the last of our Week One patients
Rafaela has her blood pressure measured during a pre-op assessment
2 ½ year-old Rafaela lives in Quito with her mother and brother. She was born with a condition called Trigger Thumbs which causes a painful clicking or snapping when moving her thumbs. Rafaela's family discovered CAMTA through her aunt who works in a small bank attached to the hospital. Once recovered from her surgical procedure, she will have normal function in her thumbs, allowing her to complete tasks that many of us with functioning opposable thumbs take for granted.
