Translators are key to our success in Quito
From left to right: Valeria, Yosmari, & Magarita (Translators)
While we try to bring as many translators with us as possible from Canada, we are eternally grateful for our volunteers from the community right here in Quito. Yosmari has been translating for CAMTA for several years now and has become an integral member of our team. This year, she brought along her friend, Margarita, and her daughter, Valeria, to help ensure that we maintained an effective ratio of translators to health care professionals. Valeria is a high school student currently completing the rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) program. While this was her first year, you never would have guessed it! She could be spotted in paediatric surgical consolations, relaying crucial medical history details to surgeons, as well as translating the diagnosis, required intervention, and pre-operative instructions to concerned parents.
