CAMTA was happy to welcome a visiting surgeon from Babahoyo, a coastal town close to Guayaquil, Ecuador's biggest city. Ivan Ferrin is a practicing orthopaedics surgeon since 2010, but his hospital just recently obtained funding to buy implants for total hip and knee replacements. Ivan was with us during Sunday's clinic, assisting the surgeons in their assessments.

 

With the existing ties between Dr. Ferrin and CAMTA through their previous SIGN Nail collaboration, CAMTA's surgeons Dr. Richard McLeod and Dr. Timothy Kostamo invited Ivan to partake in Monday's and Tuesday's surgeries to demonstrate their approaches and the use of the implants for such procedures. Ivan has now returned to his hometown to share his new knowledge with other surgeons.
