Preventative Medicine in a Two Month Old

Salinas is a 2 month old infant who has travelled with her mother over 12 hours by bus to Quito from Machaia. Salinas has polydactyly, an extra digit on her right foot, which the CAMTA team determines can be removed at this point to prevent later problems involving gait and balance as she matures. As she grows, Salinas would most likely encounter problems fitting into shoes without this operation.
