Diego's Surgery
Diego is a three year old boy who was born prematurely at 28 weeks of gestation. He was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a permanent movement disorder often resulting from trauma around the time of birth. Diego and his family shared with Translator Julianna Deutscher that Diego is very shy because his disability does not allow him to interact with other children. He is looking forward to having improved mobility and to making friends.

Dr. Dobbe and Dr. Saran perform Diego's tendon release surgery with the assistance of Pediatric OR Nurse Ricardo Rodas. This surgery will hopefully prevent the progression of Diego's hip displacement and improve his lower limb flexibility. |
General Practitioner Stephanie Stacey, Pediatric Ward Nurse Shannon Powell and Translator Julianna Deutscher pose with Diego after his surgery. He has been fitted with a broomstick cast to immobilize both legs. |
