What a Trouper!
It was clear that Alejandros Mesias Alvardo was nervous just before his surgery. With his mother beside him he gulped down the pre-op medication (usually Tylenol) and shuddered at the bad taste, his face puckering. Then he looked up and grinned; a big happy smile! Alejandors is the oldest of three boys, and his foot is bent inward. To correct his problem, surgeons Dr. Doug Armstrong and Dr. Megan Cashin lengthened Alejandros' Achilles tendon and transferred a tendon above his knee. Currently, Alejandros is able to walk and take the bus to school and is hoping the surgery will allow him to run and play ball, an activity that suits his cheerful disposition!

Baby Elias is a Fighter!
“He's a fighter,” said Dr. Marc Moreau of Elias as he recast his teeny, kicking legs, “and he cries every time!” Elias began his casting therapy to correct his bilateral club feet during the first days of the CAMTA mission. Positive results are already noticeable. Having such treatment so early in his life will give Elias the best chance of having normal feet.
CAMTA operated on the club foot of Elias' cousin Dustin10 years ago. Dustin now enjoys life as fully as any 10 year old.
