Before we leave for Quito, CAMTA volunteers accumulate a few items to make up gift bags for each of our surgical patients.  Generous professionals and service groups donate items to fill the bags. Additional items are purchased with CAMTA funds.

When a patient arrives at the hospital on the morning of her surgery, we give her a blanket to keep the chill away while she waits to go to the OR. The rest of the “goodie bag” is waiting for the patient when she returns from surgery. Everyone gets a towel, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste. The kids get a stuffed toy, colouring book and crayons. Adults also receive playing cards and a pen and notebook. Everything comes in a cloth bag emblazoned with the CAMTA logo. A small gift, but always very much appreciated by our patients.
