The clinic day was started by organizing and doing inventory for all the hockey bags filled with equipment brought down with team one.

Meanwhile the clinic was also being set up so we could assess all the potential patient to determine who would be a successful candidate for this year’s mission. Once the clinic was opened each patient was entered into the database, assessed by a surgeon to determine if surgery was necessary, and seen by a physiotherapist as well as a GP. We saw around 60 patients throughout the day and were able to start slot in patients for surgery throughout both weeks of the mission.

While the clinic was being held, the ward and O.R. nurses and anesthesiologist were busy unpacking and organizing all the equipment. The students and lay people were also organizing the office/break area and the kitchen, where we clean and sterilize surgical instruments. Tomorrow begins the first of our surgical cases.
