CAMTA's second container arrives in Quito!!!!!!
It really is a “Christmas Present” seeing as it arrived just one week before Christmas. Here's the timeline of events in the container preparation and shipping:October, 2011: CAMTA decided to proceed with a second container for the hospital Un Canto a la VidaDecember, 2011: CAMTA member Jim Raso connected with Dr. Mike MacGregor of the University of Alberta. Mike agreed to supply refurbished computers that were in storage in the Dept. of Computing Science.February 2011: X-ray boxes donated by Dr. Ed Masson are packed in protective boxes.March 2011: The computers were transferred from the U of A to the CAMTA warehouse.May 2011: Office furniture declared surplus in Calgary is moved to the IMED warehouse in SaskatoonJune 2011: Physiotherapists prepare two pallets of crutches and walkers for the container. These are stored at the CAMTA warehouse in Edmonton.July 2011: The computers, physio pallets, x-ray viewing boxesSeptember 2011: Hip arthroplasty packs are purchased and delivered to the IMED warehouse in Saskatoon.October 2011: Final list of container contents is prepared by IMED and sent for approval in Ecuador.November 7 2011: The container leaves Saskatoon by rail for Vancouver.December 7 2011: The container is stored briefly in Mexico while it awaits the second ship.December 16 2011: The container arrives at the Un Canto a la Vida, Quito, Ecuador CAMTA's first container in storage
