Mission mornings
A view of Quito from the drive
A hospital mural
Ever wondered how we start the day on a CAMTA mission? Due to the nature of OR work, the days start early and the first group leaves the hotel at 7am, with two other buses following closely behind at 7:30 and 8am. The 30-45 minute journey takes us through the rolling hills of Quito and gives us a precious glimpse into the life happening outside of our hospital.
When we arrive, our teams get straight to work setting up the ORs, prepping the patients in pre-op and getting ready for surgery. The hospital environment is lovely, and arriving there every morning has come to feel more and more like home over the course of the week.
Jackie and Fransisco (below) are always two of the first to arrive, setting up the administration and logistics for the day's work.
Then, the OR teams get the rooms patient-ready for the surgical teams to scrub in and get going!
Alyssa Wilkie and Lindsay Brouwer (Pediatric OR Nurses) are full of energy in the mornings, setting up our peds OR for the first patient!
Paulose Paul (Adult Orthopedic Surgeon), Rayanne Hillier (Adult OR Nurse) and Deb Chalupa (Adult Ward Nurse) review X-rays before starting the day
