Maria Juana Sinchi

Maria has been suffering from hip pain for over 20 years, but has not been able to receive any lasting treatment.  She and her husband Augustine have a farm in the Chimborazo Province of Ecuador where they grow legumes (such as corn and potatoes).  Chimborazo Province is located in central Ecuador and is the home of Ecuador's tallest mountain – Mount Chimborazo.  Mount Chimborazo is currently an inactive stratovolcano that has a peak elevation of 6300 meters above sea level.  The journey from Maria's farm to Quito is about five hours in duration including a 3-4 hour bus trip from Riobamba. 

 

Maria saw an advertisement in the local newspaper about CAMTA.  She and her husband made the trip to Quito to try and get some relief for the hip pain that Maria's had been living with.  Maria is extremely grateful for the new lease on life that CAMTA has provided and is looking forward to being able to work more easily on the farm.
