Samanta Maroto
Samanta Maroto came to CAMTA hoping to have surgery on her club foot. Club foot deformity is a birth defect that may affect one or both feet. The foot/feet are rotated inwards and downwards causing the person to walk on the side of their foot. The affected lower leg may be smaller in size. Samanta's left foot required surgery to correct her gait. The correction of Club Foot Deformities is one of the many orthopedic surgeries provided by CAMTA for pediatric patients.
Karen Calhoun (Lay Person) leads Samanta to the OR blowing bubbles. Marina Francis (Pediatric O.R. Nurse), Saison Demitor (Pediatric O.R. Technician) and Samanta's mother encourage her along.
