Follow ups are an important part of the patient care
Jerico Lutuala, 11 years old, was born after suffering from Streeter's dysplasia also known as constriction band syndrome while in utero. Streeter's dysplasia can affect a fetus in a number of ways, but Jerico lost the toes on his left foot and a few fingers on his hand. He also suffers from insensate skin on his left foot so the doctors realigned the angle of his ankle and set it with a couple of pins in his tibia. This was done to help Jerico with mobility. Now a week post operation his swelling is reduced and Dr. Marc Moreau (pediatric orthopaedic surgeon) and Dr. Ryan Wright (family practice physician) removed his cast, gave him a check up and a new red cast.
Jerico is now up and ready to go. He will be able to walk without the crutches when the cast is taken off in six weeks.
