CAMTA is a Winner!!

CAMTA is a winner!!

Physiotherapist Joanne Montgomery recently entered a national
contest sponsored by FYI Doctors on Facebook asking for people's favourite charities.

Joanne nominated CAMTA and WON THE CONTEST! As a result FYI is making a $200 donation to CAMTA in her name!

Her winning entry said: My favourite charity is Canadian Association of Medical Teams Abroad (CAMTA), a small registered Canadian charity that receives no government funding. In the same spirit as FYI's Community Support initiatives providing eye care internationally, CAMTA annually sends two complete volunteer orthopaedic teams including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and support personnel to provide orthopaedic surgery and care to the poor of Ecuador. They perform hip replacement surgeries on adults and treat children with club feet and hip dislocations; donate supplies and equipment to partner hospitals including equipment to treat long bone fractures; and provide education to the local medical community. The patients are poor and would otherwise not get this care and, in many cases, would not be able to work or look after their families. They are truly grateful for CAMTA's services.

Congratulations, Joanne, and thank you for promoting CAMTA!
