Baby Jeremy's story (Part 2)

Jeremy is having his second cast taken off by nurse Robin Dufresne and CAMTA team member and co-founder Barb Moreau, while physical therapy assistant Justine Ferguson and Jeremy's mom keep him calm thoroughout the procedure. The first two times the team used a fibreglass cast which is no fun to remove, particularly from a tiny baby. For the next cast, the team was able to source plaster cast which can be soaked for easy removal.

 

The doctors are happy with Jeremy's progress after three casts and hope that he will only need five casts before he undergoes a tenotomy.

 

OR nurse Keisha St. Arnaud making faces at little Jeremy to cheer him up before he gets his next cast.

 

Though the plaster cast will be a lot easier to remove, putting it on is a messy job. Physiotherapist Krystle Steeves molds the plaster to maintain Jeremy's foot in the proper position.

 

Dr. Gupta explains to Jeremy's mom (with Alexandra Cevallos translating) how important it is to make sure Jeremy wears a brace in order to avoid relapse. He will have to wear the brace all the time until he starts walking at which time he will only wear it at night for about three years.
