Spotlight: Team Pediatrics!

Our pediatric team had a busy and successful week, taking care of some precious kids in need of surgical care. Earlier this week we featured Diego's case of soft tissue release, which is just one of multiple types of surgery this versatile team performed this week. Many of the children required surgery for DDH, or Development Dysplasia of the Hip. In this condition, the hip socket is abnormally shallow or misshapen so that the hip is easily dislocated. To address this and prevent long-term complications, the surgeons perform pelvic osteotomies and surgically reshape the hip socket to ensure a better fit of the femoral head and improved long-term function. The whole team loves getting to know these children and reflecting on the impact the surgical team's work will have on their lives.

After a wonderful week, the peds team showed us an impressive flex and celebrated the results of their hard work.
