Our Last Patient Discharged

Everything must come to an end… but only after discharging all patients!

Our patients faired very well overnight and they were all ready to be discharged this morning. Our nurses were at their bedside early and Maria Paz, who was accompanied by her “abuelita” (grandmother), was craving distractions. She was the only child left on the ward, and she was happy that the nurses and translators were able to decorate her cast.
Maria Paz was happy to get all the attention of the CAMTA crew this morning.
When we discharge patients and they head home, we wish them “Buena suerte con todo” (good luck with everything), sometimes while holding back tears.

Marina has the smallest implant our surgeons have ever used in an adult patient. This tiny lady is a force to be reckoned with – because of her weight and small size, the pain management was a greater challenge than usual. Despite that, she continued doing her exercices hourly, to be able to take her first steps with her new hip when her daughters would arrive. We were privileged to meet Marina's daughters and to witness their reaction to their mother's recuperation.
